Description
A flexible honing brush with silicon carbide abrasive bonded to the tips of nylon filaments, twisted into a steel stem to form a round brush. It is run in a machine tool or high-speed drill to hone engine cylinder walls to a smoother finish. Diameter, length, core and grit are made to order, with a one-piece minimum.
Honing brushes are sized to the bore, typically a little oversize so the abrasive tips keep contact with the wall. Coarser grits break glaze and correct light scoring; finer grits leave a smoother plateau finish that helps new rings seat. Use honing oil, keep the tool rotating and stroking evenly, and remove it only while it is still turning.
Tell us the bore diameter and depth, the overall tool length you need, the stem type (steel wire or wooden core), and the grit. If you rebuild a specific engine family, list the cylinder bore sizes and quantities per size; single pieces are accepted for trials before volume orders.
