Description
A flexible ball-type hone brush with 120 grit aluminium oxide globules on a twisted steel wire stem, listed at 25×70×200 mm. It cleans and polishes bores in cylinder blocks, valve guides and hydraulic components, leaving a plateau finish. Hone diameter, honing length, total length, abrasive and grit are made to order.
Choose a hone diameter slightly larger than the bore so the globules stay in light contact as the brush spins and strokes. Aluminium oxide is a good general choice for steel and cast iron; silicon carbide is commonly chosen for cast iron cylinder liners. Always use honing oil, keep the brush moving in and out at a steady rate, and never start or stop it inside the bore.
To quote a custom hone, send the hone diameter (D), honing length (HL), total length (TL), abrasive material and grit, plus the bore material and whether you need a twisted or threaded stem. Small-diameter hones ship in poly bags and larger ones in bubble wrap inside cartons; private packaging can be arranged.
