Description

A brush roll assembled from individual steel discs, each punched with holes into which abrasive filament is folded and locked with high-strength steel wire. Stacking the discs to the line width gives higher filament density than a spiral roll and makes rebuilds easier. It is used for cleaning, polishing and deburring steel strip on pickling, annealing and galvanizing lines and in rolling mills.

Disc-type rolls carry several filaments in each hole, so they pack more brushing material onto the core than a wound strip. Because the roll is a stack of discs, worn or damaged discs can be replaced and the roll rebuilt without rewinding the whole length. They are a common replacement format for strip processing lines that originally used imported disc-type brush rolls.

Since the roll is built to each line, send the full roller drawing: shaft dimensions, face length, outer diameter, disc thickness if known, and filament type and grit. Tell us the line (pickling, annealing, galvanizing, rolling mill), strip material and whether the brush runs in acid or water. Photos of the worn roll and its nameplate data are useful.
